DevOps Team Lead

OTA Insight is a commercial platform for the hospitality industry (our clients are Airbnb property owners, individual hotels and major chains like Hilton, Accor, etc.). These are exciting times at OTA Insight: we recently raised another round of funding ($80 million) and we have welcomed two new companies, Transparent and Kriya, to our organisation that will expand our product portfolio! To accomplish our ambitious plans we are growing our Engineering team.

As the DevOps Team Lead, you will be the leader for a team of DevOps engineers across OTA Insight and our portfolio companies. This team supports our various product teams, embodies SRE best practices and ensures a great developer experience for our fast-growing engineering team. In this role you will be partnering with various technical stakeholders within the company. Identify potential technical improvements and prioritise & execute issues across different company roadmaps.

This is a high-impact role within OTA Insight which combines people and technology leadership.

Responsibilities

• Execute and drive technical roadmaps together with your team

  • Build up a deep knowledge and understanding about the different components that comprise OTA Insight and acquired businesses

  • Scale our infrastructure to keep up with our company growth

  • Integrate infrastructure requirements between OTA Insight and acquired businesses

  • Lead technology & architectural choices with your team

  • Have strong, well-founded opinions about how to build and operate software, but be adaptable and open to new ideas

  • Have a long term vision on the technical capabilities, growth and the role of the team

  • Analyse and resolve problem or needs with regards to developer experience (tools for translations, debugging, performance checks etc) and work actively to improve this

  • Plan and prioritise work within your roadmaps, absorbing planning complexity for team members

About the team

The OTA Insight Devops team in Gent is the glue between our different engineering teams. Its mission is to serve our BI products, with eye for uptime, performance, security and disaster recovery. The team works in close collaboration with the entire engineering team to drive initiatives forward.

Our kubernetes clusters are at the heart of our platform, today they scale up to 2000+ CPU’s! They power our CI/CD, data acquisition, data transformations and serve our web applications and API’s. This translates to 2500+ pods spread over 800 workloads.

We process billions of data points and +100TB of data on a daily basis, containing hotels' pricing information, search data, hotel bookings, etc. All of that using modern technologies. Being a growth company enables us to regularly attract new and interesting datasets, which can unlock new product directions.

• 5 years working in a devops or system architect role

  • Advanced technological skill set and a thought leader

  • Experience in a cloud native environment

  • SRE, IaC, PaaS, IaaS, CI/CD and K8S doesn’t sound like gibberish to you

  • Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability is always top of mind

• 2 years working in a team management role

  • Comfortable delegating work through a team of both juniors and seniors

  • Ability to coach their team, both the juniors and seniors
