OTA Insight is a leading business & market intelligence SaaS provider for the hospitality industry. Our clients include individual hotels and major chains like Hilton, Accor, IHG, etc. Today OTA Insight is present in more than 185+ countries around the world and has more than 55,000 partners.

Our engineering organisation located in Ghent, Belgium consists of 50+ high performing engineers. As part of our continued growth, we are looking to centralise multiple engineering teams into 1 vertical focussed on OTA Insight platform product developments.

As Engineering director of this strategic vertical, you are a people leader within the OTA Insight engineering organisation. You are passionate about creating and nurturing an environment that enables people to do their best work, while ensuring business goals are met in an effective manner.


Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Holistic well-being and growth of your teams, growing your vertical to 30+ engineers in total through 2022
    • Join team leads in day to day people development and actively mentor and facilitate team leads in their people management role

    • Partner with our People team to attract and retain a diverse team of engineers through hiring, mentoring, feedback, and career development

    • Create a learning environment where you act as a mentor to individuals and identify future leaders

  • Strategic management
    • Maintain a high standard in people processes within your vertical (hiring, onboarding, continuous feedback, …) and partner with People team to implement improvements

    • Keep engineering processes and standards (testing, code quality, documentation, MR strategies, branching strategies…) well-balanced and meaningful and partner with Engineering leadership to implement improvements

    • Identify opportunities to strategically improve Product processes (prioritisation, planning, deployment strategies) and partner with Product & Engineering leadership to shape solutions

    • Understand our business strategy, product offering as well as current and future technical capabilities and limitations

    • Align engineering and business objectives across your engineering teams through thoughtful negotiation, clarification, and communication of priorities.

  • Manage day-to-day activities of multiple Product-focused engineering teams (fullstack, backend & data engineering)
    • Partner in the planning, coordination, delivery and maintenance phases across 5 product lines

    • Coach the team to set the right expectations and enhance collaboration with product managers, engineering teams, design teams, and other stakeholders

    • Promote & enable a culture of excellence and responsibility of both your leads and team members

    • Track & report on individual & team performance as well as progress on team objectives


  • 5+ years managerial experience
    • A history of managing and growing agile teams and their processes

    • Able to lead, prioritise, delegate and inspire in an ambiguous, highly dynamic, and highly demanding technology environment

    • A track record of driving alignment with diverse business stakeholders across the organization and demonstrated success in managing conflicting priorities

    • You are a clear communicator in decisions and the rationale behind them and are comfortable in making decisions without consensus.

    • Demonstrated history of mentoring ICs and people managers

  • 5+ years working in a technology role
    • Demonstrated history of engineering or product development experience

    • Deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies, and you have the ability to spot opportunities to formalise processes.

  • You are genuinely driven to see your team grow and develop

  • Pragmatic in problem solving and decision making

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
